Apologies to Slim Pickens, but there is increasing turmoil at our Alma Mater.  I'm hearing that President Karbhari is making some
enemies on campus, as he campaigns for Tier One. Is it true that three Vice Presidents have resigned or been fired? UTA has long
been characterized as having several warring fiefdoms, and we have seen that dynamic play out to the school's detriment.  So it
could be that President K is merely trying to assert a more appropriate degree of uniformity and control.

I hope that's all it is.  Does anyone have specifics, such as what is happening to the Alumni Association and Development Office?

I don't have any specifics, it sounds like the new prez isn't financially backing the association as much as they would like. I have heard that he is making a strong push to Tier 1, it could be he is shifting $$ away from some programs/departments to this new initiative. I have heard also that he wants sports to be 'self sustaining', and that $$ was also cut from the 2013 Homecoming celebration.

Myself, being wet behind the ears, and wants the image of the university to be nice and rosy, is not sure what all this means. Or is the writing on the wall?

Apparently he cut some funding to the Alumni Association and now they are saying they might fold. Hard to tell what is fact in this game of chess.

Here is a good writeup about what is going on:

Here is a summary from Saturday along with some sound clips, yes, it was a rough meeting. But if the current model isn't working, and if the University can do a better job.. maybe it is worth exploring.

I know I have not been involved with the alumni association as much as I could have been.
