Here are some rules of spelling that we all learned in elementary school, but when used properly, distinguish us from UNT grads.

Re: Truly Academic

Anderson Cooper named in Speakers Series lineup. Sad. The "lineup" of speakers comprise a veritable "who's that?" of liberal wonks, journalists and political hacks. Cooper is YAL (yet another liberal) being subsidized by UTA. If we must get cable news network talking heads, can't we at least get someone that has an audience, or someone who works on a network that people actually watch? In his 8pm time slot, Cooper has approximately 1/5 the audience of Bill O'Reilly.

It would be a refreshing departure if UTA had a conservative, or at least a non-liberal, not in the tank for Obama speaker on their paid platform once in a while.

True, and not everything needs to be about liberal world views. Balance would be nice.

Yup, it is all a plot to convert Texans innocent youth into a diabolical hard-core left army to conquer the system and turn America into a communist republic, one journalist speaking at a school at a time.

Communist republic? That's a classic snark. I suppose you are too young to remember the zenith of the Soviet-imposed "peace process" in Eastern Europe, when they had their style of "elections," but Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and Ayatolla Hamani in Iran have given recent riffs on the same theme. It goes like this: one man, one vote, one approved candidate, one time.

Barak Obama and his party were largely sympathetic to the losing side in the Cold War, perhaps because their world view feeling was and is that the government is good, and that free individuals are not to be trusted. It's too bad a plurality of voters are gullible or willing to sell their freedoms cheap.

And back to the subject, it's a shame that college students seldom are exposed to thinking that runs counter to their typical liberal programming, but must pay for the Anderson Coopers.

I too was a little disappointed in the schedule of Maverick speakers, not so much because of politics, but just because none of them are real jaw droppers. Have enjoyed some really good ones in the past.
