With today's loss, the UTA womens basketball team is now 1-10 at CPC, 1-4 last year and 0-6 this year. Wow.

I see a gut check coming soon for our new AD, Mr. Baker. Does he have the stones to fire both Seymour and Morrow? Can somebody send out a search party for Donna Capps? It's hard to build a winning tradition without winning.

Amen. Once upon a time, we had a legacy with coaches. Ridgeway, Jody C, Lisa Love. And yes, Donna Capps. Where are they (or better said, their successors) now? We need someone to give this situation a close look and either encourage/lead the present ones to excellence (with a look back to our somewhat successful past) . . . or start all over again. I trust Mr. Baker to step up and do what's best; he's watched and seen Dodds in action at the top of the Mother Ship. He's up to it.

The women picked up their second home win of the year today, in front of a season-high crowd of 1,275 (second largest to see a women's game). Maybe they should do afternoon weekday games more often?

One advantage of having Morrow out of the way during the season, it lets Blair show if she can do anything. Baker just might take a serious look at Blair if this continues.

Winning the last couple of games without Morrow could be coincidence, but it might not be, too.

[quote]Winning the last couple of games without Morrow could be coincidence, but it might not be, too. UTA has won 2 of the last 3 and one in a row, which while not two in a row is quite an improvement. (W, L, W)

This time, we were fortunate enough to come up against a truly bad team in the 3-20 UNO Female Privateers.

Re: Basketball at CPC

Idaho was a win that we weren't supposed to get. Their RPI (not completely accurate, I know) was near half of ours. UNO, on the other hand, is still playing with a team that was destined for D-III, so they aren't even at the level they could be. The next four games are against Utah State (11-3, 14-11, 2nd in WAC), San Jose St (6-8, 9-16, 7th), New Mexico St (5-10, 11-14, 8th) and Denver (7-8, 12-14, 6th). If they can get two wins, I'd say she deserves a legitimate shot. Three wins and she's the front-runner. All four and print up the contract.

Remember, this is a very young team. Only one senior will be missing from next year's squad. The Sun Belt could be very winnable with MTSU out, it could be very winnable with the right coach.

Anyone notice the women outdrew the men's game?

1200 + for the women
1000 + for the men

but 2 out of 3 is not bad ... she keeps winning and yes, she deserves a crack at it ... unless Coach Capps is looking for a job

Buddy Christ Says: Go Mavs !!!

Re: Basketball at CPC

It should be noted that there were several hundred sixth graders from Arlington public schools at the women's game. They were really enthusiastic, sometimes for no obvious reason.
