So apparently blew out his knee in the warm up line on Thursday. It will take some time for the offense to gel, since KH was the center piece. I hope Hawkins can take the next step, but I'm not sure yet. We will still be good, just hurts to lose a player of that magnitude

This weekend will tell us a lot. ULM had some decent wins in non-conference play and a good roster. The Cajuns are pre-season favorites and have been playing well with NBA-prospect Shaun Long.

With a week to practice with the new starting 5 I think we will see a better result this week. I would expect to see more of the full court pressure and for us to have much quicker, shorter possessions on offense. Not having Hervey and his 7ft wingspan makes our lack of size makes things a lot more difficult.

Same here.. we are really missing Hervey's length and inside presence. Deng from ULM got hot at the worst possible time. ULM scored 56 2nd half points. What in the heck?

I was watching the ULM feed last night, UTA played erratic. I think they tried to trap too many times in the second half, and ULM beat the press every single time.

I'm not giving up on UTA .. they still have a really good record, just need to survive this 5 game road trip. 6 of the final 8 games are at CPC , where I hope we can put a streak together to win the regular season.

I think at this point we need to play these remaining games with the hopes of peaking as the conference tournament begins. This is a very different team without Hervey and they still seem to be finding their way to a new identity. They can still score, but defense is what is hurting.

Dropped a tough one to UL-Lafayette. Tied at the half and end up losing by 15 for our 3rd loss in a row. GSU and Georgia Southern up next. Need to stop this slide ASAP and a win against GSU could do that. Not sure what has happened on the defensive end, but other than the Ark State game we've given up 50% or more shooting in every game since Hervey went down. Not sure what else Coach Cross can do to motivate these guys to buy in on D.

We need to find a big man ASAP. Not sure where these other Sun Belt teams are finding these guys, but we need one to keep these guys out the paint.

I'm watching vs Georgia Southern. at 6:38 left in the game..down 14.  C'mon Mavericks.. what is going on with you guys. GASO at this time has 41 pts IN THE SECOND HALF.

Eubanks was a non factor.. neither was Pope.  Both with nice length.  I don't understand why they didnt' play more.

Brown hits another 3 at 5:28.

I hate to use this word... but I'm 'literally' stunned right now.

Mariega Clarke too.. he plays super hard defense. I'm very afraid this season is over right now. I'm not seeing the cuts to the basket, no more fire.. no more taking chances ... Please Mavericks.. prove me wrong.

And these GASO announcers are not very good... 'free throw by Kaleon Williams'... 'George Bil-Abo'.... 'Hervery has not yet played in this game.., he appears to be injured'...

'I have just been informed that Hervey has apparently hurt his knee'.

'This womens (UTA) team jerseys look like traffic cones'.

Alright, my bad.. rant over. I will behave from here on out.

this has been a huge letdown of a season ... but they are a young team, so provided Hervey comes back strong we should be in a very good position to compete next year ... there is still time to gel and make some noise, the next home game against AppState will be HUGE

Well they shut me up today. Went to Georgia state and won by 19. The offense has been good the last few games and it looks like the defense figured something out. Balanced offense, and strong rebounding. Very good win.

That's the weird thing about their losing streak. They scored over 70 three times and outrebounded ULM and Georgia Southern (were almost dead even with Little Rock). It was just the D that was out-of sync. I mentioned in my blog, but it is worth repeating here. That goes against the traditional train of thought. Usually a key player missing causes the offense problems, but the D is near the same level. That has been the exact opposite here.

I'm not terribly worried about attendance. There's no way the average will tank enough to NOT be the highest ever. Which was 2,200+ in 1981, the year we made the NIT.

We still have a great home record with one loss and marquee matchups against Texas State and the Cajuns. ULM could and probably should draw well too.

Well, I guess there are more important things to be concerned about, and surely this is the wrong thread to begin another sports expansion rant.  I just have to wonder which version of reality fits better. Should we envision a future wherein continuing gradual facilities enhancements eventually lead to more sports?  Or do we expect only upgrades around the margins of existing sports, and no eventual additions beyond women's golf in 2017?

Do increased ticket sales and record-setting attendance figure in setting or even changing the future agenda?

Nice win against App, a team not likely to make the conference tournament. But a 31-point win is solid against any team.

We'll know a lot about where we sit this weekend. We sit in fourth place, a half game back of third a 1.5 of second, and both teams come to CPC.

I'm confident we can win, but at this point, am hoping for a split.
